Peaceful, Centered + Connected
Somewhere along the way, I began denying my own needs and suffocating my voice to meet the limitations of others.
This is the space where I am being stretched the most right now.
What I am learning is that over time this moves one into an energy of depletion creating a center of desertion of our needs by refusing to recognize them out of fear. In the fear and refusal, the needs quietly fade into the background and become difficult to recognize and challenging to retrieve.
What do I really need?
At the beginning of every month, I sit down and take stock of several areas of my life including what I am affirming. I do this quietly and creatively and leave a big blank space in my journal to hold what I feel guided to affirm each month. In February I picked up a purple pen and filled the space with these words:
It is safe for me to express what I need each day that I live.
The statement has become an anchor, an invitation, and a voice of conscience that moves me to speak in situations where I historically would have opted for silence. By the middle of February I had created an extensive list of recognized needs and by the end of the month that list became a collection of short statements that now hang on my bathroom mirror.
I'm moving some of them from my mirror to your inbox as April begins.
Here they are.
What do you really need?
May your soul sing.
I need to allow myself to be supported and I need to ask for support.
I need to know, in my depths, that I am worthy of having my needs met.
I need to remember that my needs can arise from a place of abundance.
I need to remember that my needs being met are not dependent on my ability to compensate, pay a rate, or offer a financial exchange.
I need peace and beauty.
I need to feel seen.
I need calm surroundings.
I need my independence with a sense of connection.
I need the freedom to be me without titles or roles.
I need authentic connection and intimacy on emotional, intellectual, energetic, and physical levels.

A New Way to See the Good News
A new way to see the Good News is a short passage that may offer a fresh perspective or insight into the ancient collection of poems, letters, and stories known as the Bible.
Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?
- Matthew 20:15
A group of workers shows up early for a full day's work. Another group of workers shows up right before it's time to head home. One group works all day. One group works an hour. Both groups received the same wage.
This is what Jesus says the kingdom of heaven is like. Generous.
Until next time.
Grace + Ease,
Tia
