"You are here to express and share your love, not to make others happy, not to look for love, but to be the love."

Peaceful, Centered + Connected

I am learning.

When I suffocate my voice to meet the limitations of others I am only limiting myself.

If I suffocate my own needs long enough then I become depleted. This depletion stems from a refusal to recognize and vocalize my own needs out of fear.

What will they think?

What if they get upset?

What if they leave?

What if?

What if?

What if?

The spiral creates a center of desertion.

Perhaps you have been here before?

Perhaps you are in the desert too?

Silence is where I learn

I do not have to silence my own needs

to accommodate the needs of others

A New Way to See the Good News

A new way to see the Good News is a short passage that may offer a fresh perspective or insight into the ancient collection of poems, letters, and stories known as the Bible. This section is currently dedicated to exploring identity.

Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written:

" 'He will command his angels concering you and they will lift you up in their hands....

- Matthew 4:5

Here we begin to see how our identity can become entangled with the desire to have others "lift" us up or esteem us which can cause us to fall into a pattern of disregard when it comes to who we truly are created to be.

Spoiler alert. When we move forward to Matthew 6:6 Jesus illuminates how to pray (now known as the method of Centering Prayer) in a way that helps to loosen the holds of these temptations. To recognize the desire and not let it serve as the ultimate reality that defines and motivates the action we take.

There is no need to throw yourself down when you are secure in who you are.

We'll look at the final temptation in my next newsletter and see how they all connect to the ego. I am also unpacking this in-depth in week 5 of my upcoming course if you'd like to take a deeper dive in a live class with others.

Until next time.

Grace + Ease,

Tia

News + New Good Things from Tia Norman The deepest level of communication is not communication, but communion. It is wordless. It is beyond words. It is beyond speech. It is beyond concept. Not that we discover a new unity, but we discover an old unity. My dear brothers and sisters, we are already one. But we imagine we are not. And what we have to recover is our original unity. What we have to be, is what we are. -Thomas Merton Peaceful, Centered + Connected When global confusion rises I...

News + New Good Things from Tia Norman "Sometimes silence is not an absence of sound but rather a presence of understanding." - Richard Wagamese Peaceful, Centered + Connected I listened to the eclipse as closely as I watched it. I made good on a promise to my daughter that April 8th would be our eclipse party day. She stayed home from school and was in charge of snacks. The spread included dragonfruit and pomegranate because both seem mysterious and require scientific research to slice and...

News + New Good Things from Tia Norman “When your needs are met, your soul sings.” -Oprah Winfrey Peaceful, Centered + Connected Somewhere along the way, I began denying my own needs and suffocating my voice to meet the limitations of others. This is the space where I am being stretched the most right now. What I am learning is that over time this moves one into an energy of depletion creating a center of desertion of our needs by refusing to recognize them out of fear. In the fear and...
